Serving
our own.
Built by local people. Supporting local people. We prepare and distribute freshly cooked meals to individuals facing hardship across Medway, every single week.

More Than Food
Warm meals & connection
Every Week
Consistent, reliable support
No Referral Needed
Open to anyone in need
No Judgement
Dignity for everyone
We exist to provide more than food.
Medway Soup Kitchen CIC is a community-led initiative responding directly to food insecurity and isolation across Medway. We are residents of this area, building support that feels close, human, and consistent. Food meets the immediate need, but showing up, week after week, is what builds lasting change.
Freshly Cooked Meals
Prepared from scratch with quality ingredients, never reheated leftovers.
Consistent Support
Same time, same place. People can rely on us being there.
A Welcoming Presence
No referrals, no judgement, no barriers. Just community.
Dignity First
Everyone is treated with respect. No questions asked.
No one should go without a meal.
Across the UK, an estimated 7.3 million adults experienced food insecurity in early 2025. Medway is not immune. Rising costs, housing instability and financial hardship are pushing more people into crisis, and for some, a hot meal is no longer guaranteed.
Financial Hardship
Benefits delays, low wages, debt
Housing Instability
Rough sleeping, temporary accommodation
Rising Living Costs
Food prices up 19% since 2021
Social Isolation
No family, no network, no safety net
“When a community looks after its own, no one is left unseen.”
That's what Serving Our Own means.

This initiative is currently self-funded by our founding team. To continue and to grow, we need the community behind us.

Every donation goes directly towards ingredients and preparation. We operate with minimal overhead, so your money feeds people.
Food Supplies
We welcome physical donations of core ingredients to keep our kitchen running week to week.

Volunteer With Us
We're building a committed volunteer base. Even one day a month makes a real difference.
To provide accessible, nourishing meals in a safe and welcoming environment, while restoring dignity and strengthening community support for individuals experiencing hardship across Medway.
A Medway where communities step forward to support one another and no one goes without a meal or feels unseen.
Transparency
We operate with integrity and are committed to publishing regular impact updates covering:
- Meals served
- Volunteer hours
- Funds raised & spent
- Expansion milestones
Partnerships
We collaborate with established local outreach organisations to ensure meals reach those who need them most. This includes working directly alongside Medway Street Angels during weekly outreach sessions at Chatham Town Centre.
Open to All
“Serving Our Own” means serving everyone in our community, regardless of background, circumstance or status. Our doors are open to anyone who needs a meal.
Help us serve more meals, more often.
Whether it's a one-off donation, a monthly commitment, or your time, every bit of support takes us closer to doubling our weekly distribution.
